Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us (Rom. 12:6)
It is important that we recognize the different expressions of God’s grace that we each possess.
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth. (1 Pet. 4:10-11)
It is normal for those who are graced in one area to expect the same passion and commitment in that area from everyone around them. Evangelists expect that everyone should be evangelistic like they are. Administrators, those passionate about politics, those passionate about children’s ministry, those passionate about missions, etc., all believe that their area of grace should be normal for everyone.
I have noticed in my own life that a level of frustration appears when I try to walk in someone else’s area of grace and purpose. While I can support and approve of your particular passion, I may not always be able to participate as much as you would like me to. I don’t expect everyone around me to be a teacher of the Word.
As we grow in the discovery of what our grace gift is, let’s show grace to those who have different callings and passions. Everyone won’t be like you, and that is probably a good thing.
