Really Forgiven

Has someone ever forgiven you, and then later reminded you of your failure? In the world, forgiveness may be offered, but the memory of the event remains and can be resurrected and used against the forgiven person at a later date. This is not true forgiveness.

The forgiveness that God offers us is far more profound.

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (Heb. 10:16-17)

When we accept Jesus as our sacrifice for sin and judgment, we are forgiven and God chooses to never remember our sins. What a blessing! Though men may remember our failures, God has chosen to forget.

A part of the blessing of forgiveness is what becomes possible between God and man. Because we are forgiven we can now have fellowship with God with no consciousness of guilt, failure or condemnation. He has reconciled Himself to us by destroying the power of sin, death and the devil.

“God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.” (2Cor. 5:19)

Since sin is no longer a barrier and God has reconciled Himself to the entire world, those who believe in Jesus are forgiven and reconciled to Him. Fellowship with God is possible in Spirit and in Truth.

Our message to the world is that God through Jesus has defeated the power and barrier of sin, and if we accept the gift of righteousness, we are forgiven and reconciled to Him. We are made the righteousness of God in Christ! Your past mistakes will never be resurrected. God has chosen to never remember our sins. Now, the new creation that you are can fellowship with God without condemnation!
